Website and food ordering system for a Douglas cafe
Project overview:
Dave, the owner of The Eatery, wanted a website that reflected the cafe’s values and displayed copies of its menus. It was important to Dave that the menus looked as close as possible to the cafe’s menus and were viewable on all devices.
Decimus designed the website using WordPress and incorporated an identical version of the cafe’s menu. Additional pages were added for the cafe’s private dining and a contact us / recruitment page.

Work included:
- Design and build using WordPress
- Embedded menus – Dave didn’t want PDFs
Ongoing services:
- Menu updates – since the launch of the website, we have updated the menus, as required, which has included changing the look and layout to reflect The Eatery’s evolving style.
Project updates: Online food ordering system
Project overview:
As businesses adapted to the new “normal” of the coronavirus lockdown, Dave from the Eatery approached Decimus Design to implement a food ordering system so he could offer takeaways and deliveries.
The main requirements were to make the ordering system as user-friendly as possible, and allow customers to select a day and time slot for either delivery or collection. It was also important for The Eatery to be able to easily add new menu items when required.

Work included:
- The ordering menu was designed in the same style as the existing cafe’s menu – ordering from breakfast, brunch, lunch and drinks menus
- Customers are able to select collection or delivery, and the date and timing of their choice
- A floating basket allows customers to instantly know what they’ve chosen
- Delivery charges are calculated at checkout based on delivery location
- Customisations of the order delivery notifications
Ongoing services:
- Since the lockdown has ended, The Eatery has expanded its menu and Dave continues to update menu items himself.
